DIFFERENT NOW: SPOON
The form of the spoon came from organic materials, things that are more comfortable approaching a mouth or a hand. A coil of clay was pressed and formed a handle, then using 3D scanners a mesh was made. The spoon head is a found object; a mussel shell. The idea of approaching a person's mouth with an object that held living flesh and the handle coming from the earth, gave a direct connection to the primitive act of eating and the food itself.
The conversation between digital media and physical media was very important to the making of the Spoon. Produced drawings and videos bridge the gap of understanding between the ceramic, shell, the digital mesh, and again back to physical with a Print. All means of representation are held to the same bar, helping each other reach a harmonious effort that in turn creates a system for the user to engage in.
